How To Find Your Purpose

How To Find Your Purpose

I was struggling with stepping into my purpose. I’ve built up a product and an audience so it feels like the right time to step into what God has been showing me for over 15 years; to be a writer.

But I have so much fear, so many excuses that I’m not the right one for this. I’ve stopped and started my blog so many times now, I can’t keep track. I still have so many of my own issues I’m working on. That maybe God made a mistake and was showing the wrong person all these dreams and messages.

But after yesterdays revelation, I cannot even explain the peace that has been in me. It’s unchanging, its peace that surpasses all understanding. This rain and gloomy weather isn’t even bothering me anymore.

Here’s the story.

Just a few days ago I met up with my cousin Lily. We were having coffee while everyone was at work and school. Her son, Theodore, just had his breakfast and was pacing around the house in his little walker.

We were catching up and last time we saw each other I wasn’t able to share everything new that’s happened over the past few months. So as I was sharing what we went through with Dennis’ work (it all ended up better than expected and God was insanley in the center of it all, but in the moment it was a stressful) and other personal things.

And everyone calls me to fix things. As an older sibling, everyone always puts problems on your shoulders. Even parents.

I complained.

No, it’s not because you’re the oldest, Sulamita. It’s because you’re the strongest.

I held back that lump in my throat. And quickly glanced outside, I wished the sun was out instead of this downpour.

I never considered myself strong.

Every time an argument would arise between parents or siblings in the house (that I wasn’t apart of) I would leave. When I didn’t drive yet, I would go outside and sit in our field of five acres and look at the stars or I would climb the top of an evergreen tree and hangout with God.

I actually had a vision of you before you came here. I normally ask the Holy Spirit to show me something He has for the person I’m meeting with.

I saw a mansion with lots of rooms in it. In the center of the mansion was a purple diamond, I guess purple is your color hu? (it’s not my favorite color but it keeps recurring in dreams and visions).

This diamond was so bright that it was lighting up all the rooms in the mansion. And it was pulsating, like it was alive.

Again I’m holding back tears.

I asked the Holy Spirit what this is and He said the diamond was you and the mansion was yours.

When I was driving home a few hours later, I didn’t understand why God would show me my heavenly mansion. That’s what I assumed it was. What does that have to do with anything right now?

The next day I was reading the God Calling devotional by A.J Russell:

Complete surrender of every moment to God is the foundation of happiness, the superstructure is the joy of Communion with Him. And that is, for each, the place, the mansion, I went to prepare for you.

My followers have misunderstood that, and looked too often upon that promise as referring only to an After-Life, and too often- far too often- upon this life as a something to be struggled through, in order to get the reward and the joy of the next. (I’m guilty of this)

Seek to carry out all I say, and such understanding, insight, vision and joy will be yours as shall surpass indeed all understanding. The plans of God are very wonderful- beyond your highest hopes.

Cling to thoughts of protection, safey, guidance.

So all this time I thought we have mansions in heaven based off how obediently we live here on earth? That can still be 100% true as well, but that means I missed the mark for something far more important.

Let’s breakdown the first paragraph, I drew it out for myself to understand better.

First, I looked up the word superstructure. It means whatever is built ON TOP of a foundation.

This is how I understood what it’s saying:

My first thought was, “that’s pretty cool, Jesus is basically saying how to find your purpose and joy.

But when you continue reading the devotional, He’s saying that THIS is the PLACE He went to prepare for us.

These “mansions” are our “secret place” with Jesus. The restored communion that was lost after the fall of Adam.

But this all sounds almost too good to be true. I could’ve sworn Jesus said He was going to HEAVEN to prepare a place.

So I googled up “I go to prepare a place for you Bible verse”

Here’s what came up:

John 14:2-3 The Passion Translation (TPT)

My Father’s house has many dwelling places.[a] If it were otherwise, I would tell you plainly, because I go[b] to prepare a place for you to rest. And when everything is ready, I will come back and take[c] you to myself so that you will be where I am.

Footnotes from TPT:

  1. John 14:2 Or “There are many resting places on the way to my Father’s house.” Or “There are many homes in my Father’s household.” The Father’s house is also mentioned by Jesus in John 2:16, where it is his temple on earth, his dwelling place. This is not just heaven, but the dwelling place of God among men. There is ample room for people from every nation and ethnicity, room to spare, for the church, the body of Christ, is now the house of God. See 1 Cor. 3:16Eph. 2:21-221 Tim. 3:15Heb. 3:61 Peter 2:5. Every believer is now one of the many dwelling places that make up God’s house (temple). See also v. 23.
  2. John 14:2 Jesus’ “going” was to go through death and resurrection in order to make us ready to be his dwelling place. He had to “go,” not to heaven, but to the cross and pass through resurrection.
  3. John 14:3 The Greek verb used here, paralambano, is the word used for a bridegroom coming to take his bride. He “takes” us as his bride through his death and resurrection. His “coming back” can also refer to his “coming” to live within believers.

All I can say is I recommend reading that over several times.

I mean, WOW.

So this is what He really meant:

At this point I understand that the vision my cousin had of the “mansion” wasn’t just (or at all) my future home in heaven.

It’s my secret place with Jesus right now. She said there were multiple rooms in this mansion and that sounds a lot like the Fathers House as Jesus said.

What about the diamond then?

I googled up “meaning of diamond”

*pro tip, look up meanings/symbols you have in your visions/dreams. But ask the Holy Spirit to guide you through this research. Often times God will make something practically jump out of the page at you with revelation. Other times it gets you a little step closer to finding the meaning that He WILL reveal to you eventually.

What came up was that a diamond is the strongest stone and is known for reflecting light very well and purple means royalty.

Pretty cool sounding hu?

Wait until you read this verse that was reccomended in the footnotes (all the verses are clickable by the way so you can read them yourself directly):

1 Peter 2:5 The Passion Translation (TPT)

Come and be his “living stones”[a] who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests,[b] offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ.

  1. 1 Peter 2:5 To be identified as Christ’s living stones means that we are in union with him and share his nature, for he is the Living Stone.

1 Peter 2:9-10 The Passion Translation (TPT)

But you are God’s chosen treasure[a]priests who are kings,[b] a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.[c] 10 For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it![d]

  1. 1 Peter 2:9 This is taken from Ex. 19:5-6 and Mal. 3:17. The Hebrew word is ségulla, which means “a special treasure” (possession). It is used to describe “guarded wealth,” indicating the placement of the king’s jewels, treasures, etc., in a safe, protected place because of their extraordinary value. God says that each believer is a priest and king, his unique and special treasure of great importance—a treasure above all other treasures. See also Titus 2:14.

Did you get that???

How is it even possible for one little vision to translate the entire gospel and the purpose of believers?

The diamond isn’t just me. Although the vision was for me to help push me towards my calling.

But Jesus gave this word to everyone.

We are all diamonds, LIVING STONES, strong, royal priesthood.

Protected treasures.

Reflecting “his glorious wonders throughout the world.”

This diamond was so bright that it was lighting up all the rooms in the mansion.

The rooms are all the nations, all the people in the world that we reflect Jesus to. That barista you see every day. Your co-worker, your classmates.

Jesus died not only for our suffering and salvation. He died so that we don’t need to send priests into the Holy of Holies on our behalf. I’m talking to you, you that’s waiting for God to speak to you through others.

He made US into priests, and our secret place the Holy of Holies.

COMMUNION with Him, our secret place, is the mansion He went to prepare for each of us.

And our lives are a reflection of what we experience.

If you’re stuck finding your purpose, remember:

Surrender every moment to God (living without fear, be grateful always, especially in the uncertainties)

And go hangout with Him in the place Jesus prepared for the both of you.

The resting place, the secret place.

He will give you clarity, and you will reflect His glorious wonders.

I’m a strong believer in setting the Bible verses, what God has done in our lives, or things He’s spoken to us, in front of us so we can be reminded constantly of the Truth. It’s so easy to be distracted and start accepting the things we hear from people around us, the media and movies.

So I wanted to give you this Free phone wallpaper if you feel like this post resembled something for you.
